Services

Individual Therapy

During an individual therapy session the therapist meets one on one with the client. For children, parents or caregivers may or may not be in the room for some or all of the session. Parent/caregiver involvement depends on the focus of the session, goal of treatment and the child’s wishes.

Family Therapy

Family therapy is focused on resolving family situations that cause stress or conflict between family members and on family relationships. It can focus on a specific issues such as distrust between parents and children, or the impact of a traumatic event or family member’s mental health on the entire family.

Parenting Work

Cat Ward, LCSW works one on one with parents to develop positive and effective skills to create a parent-child relationship that is built on the child’s sense of safety, structure and nurturance.

Groups

Groups can be very beneficial to children dealing with difference, whether that difference be due to anxiety or depression, trauma, family composition or neurodivergence. Cat Ward, LCSW conducts therapy groups to help children increase their sense of belonging and connection in a world that often treats children with unique needs as unworthy or defective.

Currently Cat Ward, LCSW is looking to start a group for 7 to 10 year old neurodivergent children who are engaged in homeschooling, unschooling or in a different environment during traditional school hours for a therapy group during the day on Wednesdays. Please contact her at cat@catwardlcsw.com if you are interested in participating.

Collateral Services

Collateral services are when a therapist meets with additional people involved in a client’s life to provide consultation. This is always done with permission from the child and parent and a signed release form giving the therapist permission to speak with the specific person. Cat Ward, LCSW provides consultations to adults that help to take care of children such as teachers, school staff, day care workers, and summer camp counselors. The goal of collateral services is to obtain information about a child’s functioning in a certain environment, provide psychoeducation and explanation of on going issues, and to recommend and teach skills and strategies for that individual to use with the child.
